U-Haul is in the truck sharing business, which refers to truck rental services intended to substitute for private, large capacity vehicle ownership. It makes occasional use of a truck affordable, even for lower income households, while providing an incentive to minimize driving and rely on alternative travel options (e.g. public transportation) as much as possible. U-Haul also provides car sharing service – U Car Share – which allows members’ access to a vehicle by the hour without the hassles of gas, insurance, parking fees and maintenance costs. Car sharing is becoming a critical element of the transportation network in many cities and universities, enabling residents, students and businesses to get rid of their cars and still meet their transportation needs. U-Haul truck share has done this for years.

We can demonstrate that each U-Haul truck added to a local community helps keep 19 personally owned, large capacity vehicles (LCVs) such as pick-up trucks, SUVs, and vans off the road.
